Grower Tour

butterbee farm plant sale (1).png

Join owner Laura Beth Resnick for an in-depth tour of Butterbee’s heated greenhouses, unheated hoophouses, and fields.

Our Grower Tour is for farmers, gardeners, and horticulturists who have at least one season of growing under their belts. Topics will cover how grow ranunculus, anemone, sweet pea, eucalyptus, snapdragons, dianthus, freesia, poppies, and more in our heated tunnels; how we get an early start on the season in our unheated tunnels; and how we protect our fall planted field crops through unpredictable winters. We’ll also cover the inner workings of the farm, from how we send our availability to florists through the season, to how we decide what to grow, to our harvesting techniques.

Participants will get a full tour of the farm. Questions and photos are encouraged! Our goal is to provide so much information that you leave the farm with your head spinning- in a good way!

Logistics:

The tour is on Saturday, 3/26/21. It starts promptly at 10 am, and ends around noon.

Coffee and light snacks will be provided. BYO mug if you can! There is a restroom on site. Masks may be required.

Please expect our heated tunnels to be flowering, and our unheated tunnels and fields to be emerging from dormancy- that is, not yet flowering.

We are keeping the tour small so that everyone can interact and get their questions answered. As a result, please note we cannot accommodate cancellations or refunds due to the limited class size.

Kind words about our teaching:

-Laura Beth is a natural teacher! Knowledgeable, patient, nurturing, all come to mind after taking two of her online workshops this season! Laura Beth uses sustainable practices to farm her beautiful, seasonally grown flowers in the Baltimore & DC area. Thank you for sharing your knowledge on growing organically, crop planning, dahlia growing & advice on pest control using beneficial insects, helping to put newer growers at ease! Whether you’re a commercial grower or a backyard gardening enthusiast, Laura Beth will inspire you to be a better grower!

-There's nothing more helpful or re-energizing in the midst of July burn-out than getting to talk shop with your flower growing heroes!

-Laura Beth energy is contagious and I walked away thinking that focusing on the blooms was far more important than obsessing about a weed-free field. Liberating!

-Laura Beth is so open with everything about her business - the good, the ugly, the nitty-gritty details - which is something you can't get from a reading a book!

-You cannot put a price on seeing another farmer's operation from the inside. Laura Beth's openness and willingness to share information were invaluable.
