Is DIY right for me?
DIY wedding flowers are right for you if:
1) It sounds like fun!
2) You have a “design team” of friends and family who are pumped to help out!
3) You and your design team are willing to spend time designing before the wedding!
What designs can I make?
You can make anything you like! Here’s a list of the designs that our couples most commonly make:
Personal flowers: bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages, flower crowns, hair flowers, pet leis
Ceremony flowers: aisle flowers, ceremony urns, petals for throwing, arches and chuppahs
Reception flowers: centerpieces, bud vases, cake flowers, bar flowers, cocktail edible flowers
Garlands require lots of evergreen foliage that can hold up for days without water; we don’t grow much of those foliages. So, garlands are the only piece that we can’t provide for.
All orders include a balanced mix of foliages, fillers, and focals!
How many stems should I order?
We can help you with that! Some quick quidelines:
Bridal bouquets: 75 stems
Centerpieces: 10-25 stems per vase with a 2.5” wide opening (mason jar)
Bud vases: 3-5 stems per vase
Send us an inquiry for further guidance!
How do I keep the flowers fresh between designing them and the wedding?
It’s easy! Make sure all stems are solidly in their vase water. Keep the flowers in an air conditioned space until right before the ceremony. Boutonnieres and loose petals can be stored in a bag or tupperware in the refrigerator crisper drawer if made the day before.
Is buying flowers from Butterbee cheaper than going to the florist?
It really is! Florists have to design the flowers for you. You’re paying for the flowers plus the florist’s labor and expertise. When you DIY with us, you’re only paying for the flowers.
The reason we can price this low is because our wedding service is “farmer’s choice.” That means we have a lot of flexibility when it comes to your harvest, and that makes our lives super easy!
What if I want some of the flowers designed?
Great! We can connect you with our favorite florists. You’ll need to contact them independently, but do mention that you’d like them to use local flowers so that they match the rest of your DIY pieces!
