not easy

Dear Readers,

It has not been an easy week. Jascha had the flu, it was really freaking hot, and these long summer days make for endless grass to be mowed and weeds to be pulled. Not to mention the horrible things happening around the world, and in our own country.

My normal method is to battle the stress with work- Get it done, I tell myself, and then you'll feel better.

But I have a new method now, and that is to ask for help instead of trying to do it all myself. Brittney and Doug had time to work with me at the farm this week. It was SO GREAT- not only did we get it done, but they motivated me to do even more, and took stress out of the equation. And Jascha had the time he needed to recover so that he can lead the high tunnel building team today!

It's exciting to be in a position (finally) to hire people, even just here and there. I know how great it feels to earn some money doing something that feels really useful, and that I'm good at. We definitely want to have a small team of workers at the farm one day; this week was the first step in that direction.

Thanks also to Peter, who volunteered at the farm this week, and to Dad, Carin, Sarah, Scott, Dave, Josh, Ellen, and Brittney, who are helping us build High Tunnel Mr. Bill this weekend, and helping us put on Blooms and Bouquets (our farmer-florist workshop) on Monday! And thanks to Jascha for getting better in time to build this weekend (phew).

I wish you all a team of helpers.
